Kumasi, Ghana, inn
For travelers to West Africa seeking an accommodation in Kumasi, Ghana, the Four Villages Inn (Box KS 3374, Kumasi, Ghana; phone 233 51 22682 or mobile 020 766 7559) is an excellent choice — an inviting B&B in a quiet but very accessible neighborhood.
With a nice ambiance for getting to know other travelers, the inn is set in a large garden and has a wide covered terrace for those who like fresh air. There’s a huge living room where guests can find many publications about Ghana.
The inn’s four guest rooms, air-conditioned and tastefully decorated with local art, can accommodate singles, couples or families (single $80, double $90 or family $100, including breakfast). The bathrooms are large and well designed to Western tastes.
Breakfast, served in a cozy dining room, is an art piece in itself, consisting of local fruit presented in lovely compote glasses plus eggs, sausages (made on the premises), toast, coffee and tea.
The highlight of our stay at the Four Villages Inn was the integrity of hosts Charity and Chris Scott, a Canadian-Ghanaian couple who are skilled at making their guests comfortable. They did not hesitate to sit for a chat. They can arrange a variety of tours for travelers and provided us with excellent information and advice. Our visit was in February ’11.
