Buenos Aires train crash

In Castelar, a western suburb of Buenos Aires, Argentina, a commuter train slammed into the rear of a stopped train near the station on June 13, killing three people and injuring about 300. 

This is the third deadly crash on the Sarmiento line in two years. In September 2011 a bus was hit by a train, killing 11 and injuring 212, and in February 2012 a train hit a retaining wall, killing 51 and injuring more than 700. 

Most train lines in Argentina are heavily used by commuters. Many of the privately owned rail companies have been highly criticized for aging infrastructure and equipment, poor maintenance and bad management. The cause of this accident is under investigation.
