Bomb blasts, Volgograd

Two suicide-bomb attacks in Volgograd, Russia — at a train station on Dec. 29 and on a bus on Dec. 30 — killed 34 people and injured about 60. At press time, no group had claimed responsibility. The numbers of security personnel have been increased in Volgograd and, 400 miles away, in Sochi, where the Olympic Games are to begin on Feb. 7.
