Amazon treehouse, Peru

Located at the confluence of the Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers in the Peruvian Amazon, the Treehouse Lodge (US contact in Bountiful, UT; 435/879-5839, www.treehouselodge.com) comprises eight bungalows connected by suspended walkways radiating from the central lodge, all built in the forest canopy at heights of 25 to 65 feet.

Including transfers from/to Iquitos Airport and three meals a day, per-person, double-occupancy, rates range from $695 for two nights on up to $1,295 for five nights, with a  single supplement of $200 per package. Each additional night costs $150 per room. 

Any lodge stay includes excursions such as jungle walks, bird-watching, dugout canoe trips and river dolphin-watching.
