CAR violence

At least 15 people were killed in the town of Bambari in northeastern Central African Republic (CAR) on Oct. 27 in a clash between Muslim and Christian militias. An ambush the next day on a road outside of Bambari left 10 people dead, including six police officers.


Due to activities of armed groups, the US Department of State warns travelers of the unpredictable security situation in the CAR and reminds travelers that the potential for sectarian violence in the country remains high, despite the peaceful election of a new president in 2016 and the continued presence of a United Nations stabilization force.
