I read the Travel Brief item “Santiago Aerial Tram” (May ’17, pg. 4), which reported that the Teleférico de Santiago in Santiago, Chile, resumed operation in November 2016 after being shuttered in June 2009.

At first, I was confused because I had enjoyed awesome aerial views of Santiago from the tram ride in Parque Metropolitano that I took on Jan. 15, 2010, a date that obviously came after June 2009, but the matter was cleared up during my research.

I learned that TWO tramways have stations at the scenic summit in Parque Metropolitano. Both the aerial Teleférico de Santiago (on a cable) and the funicular (the tram on rails that I took) have stations located there.

The funicular, which started operation in 1925, has been declared a Chilean national monument.
