A man armed with a knife attacked people in Puutori-Market Square in Turku, southern Finland, on Aug. 18, killing two people and injuring eight others. The attacker, identified as an asylum-seeker from Morocco, was wounded by police and apprehended. Witnesses said the attacker appeared to be targeting women.
Authorities arrested two other people on suspicion of assisting with the attack but as of press time had not released any information on what ways the suspects were involved. The Finnish government was describing the attack as a terrorist incident, but no group had taken responsibility.
