Your Business Flights

While searching for discounted business-class fares from Los Angeles to Zagreb, Croatia, I came across Your Business Flights (Las Vegas, NV; 800/359-3050, yourbusinessflights.com).

After I filled out the contact form through the website, a woman named Giselle contacted me by email, and since I was trying to negotiate something better than what she could offer me, I received a phone call from German.

This was on May 25, 2017, and, for flights two months later, Giselle and German were able to book exactly what I wanted at a lower cost than what I found offered by other flight consolidators.

Before finding Your Business Flights, I had gone to Travelzoo (www.travelzoo.com) to compare rates and then started Googling consolidators I saw listed there, but the offers weren’t as good as what German gave me.

My Air France flight departed LAX on July 18 and landed in Paris before continuing to Zagreb, Croatia, where my husband, Josip, was waiting for me. My return, on Aug. 8, began on Croatian Airlines from Zagreb to Amsterdam, where I connected with a KLM flight back to LAX.

While in Zagreb, Josip and I sipped cold draft beers at the restaurant Bistro Fotic´ (Gajeva 25; www.bistrofotic.com), located in the city center. I would describe it as having an eclectic décor. Antique lovers will be interested in the many furnishings, including a juke box. The beer is brewed in-house using a Czech recipe.

Our favorite find was the popular Nokturno (Skalinska 4; www.restoran.nokturno.hr), near Zagreb’s Old Town. We chose an outside table, as it was a beautiful day, and each ordered Lignje na Zaru (calamari grilled with oil, garlic and herbs) accompanied by blitva (a mixture of chard and potatoes), paying $8 each.

Since my last visit to Croatia, in 2014, it appears that tourism has grown significantly, judging from the increased number of flights to that country, especially from Asia. New airlines I noticed in Zagreb were Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Air Serbia, Qatar Airways, Euro­wings and easyJet. 

Named after a deceased president, Franjo Tud¯man, Zagreb’s new international airport is modern and efficiently operated.
