Number of years, booked trip to Bhutan with Third Eye Travel ( www.thirdeyetravel.com ). Company is owned by a Bhutanese couple and they often lead the tours. They also booked an extension for me to visit India, before I flew into Nepal to join rest of my group. Would highly recommend and they do advertise in ITN also. Beautiful and very clean country. I highly recommend Intrepid Travel an Australian adventure travel company with offices in the US ( Colorado) I took their Bhutan trip a few years ago and it was outstanding in every respect - itinerary, small group size , guides, accommodations, cost etc. I have also traveled with them to Burma, as well as Thailand, Laos, VietNam and Cambodia and their trips are all excellent if you are a true adventure traveler. I went to Bhutan with Eldertreks in October/November 2010. I enjoyed this trip because it included Nepal, as well as Darjeeling and Sikkim, in addition to Bhutan. This time of year was a beautiful time to visit this region. The temperatures were comfortable and it was very clear. The views were amazing. There were no festivals included in this departure; Eldertreks does have a spring departure which includes the Paro Festival, but I think the weather is not as nice and there would be many more tourists around during festivals.
I know someone who traveled to Bhutan with Far Fung Tours, which specializes in Bhutan. He enjoyed that trip very much. If I hadn't already traveled with Eldertreks, I would think about them. I did contact Far Fung Tours about one of their other trips. It was full, so I couldn't book, but they were very quick in responding to my inquiry and very friendly.

We just returned from Myanmar using Third Eye Travel, and have used them for trips to
Bhutan and Nepal. They are highly efficient and provide excellant service. Their
guides and drivers are also very good and speak excellant English. All the trips with them have been small groups usually no more than 5 or 6 in our experience. You have a wide range of choices of itineraries ranging from $1500 to $4850 from 1 week to more than two weeks. My recommendation, give them a try you wont be sorry.

I just returned from 2 1/2 weeks in Bhutan in November and would highly recommend Yana Expeditions as a tour company. My friend and I cycled across Bhutan from the eastern side of the country to the southern Indian border. Yana is a Bhutanese family owned business that is owned and operated by the oldest brother Tashi Nobgay. During our trip we stayed in hotels and camped. The Yana staff took great care to ensure that our trip was enjoyable and that our needs were always met. When we ran into an unavoidable transportation snafu at the end of the trip, they took extraordinary measures to make sure that we returned to Paro in a safe and timely manner. Yana also does treks and multi-sport trips. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for active travels in Bhutan.

Apologies for the delay in responding ... we've been traveling. I'm wondering from the name of the company and your comments if this tour may be many years beyond our endurance level. Although in good condition for our ages, we are well past the "senior citizen" mark.

We went to Bhutan in April, 2014 with our two girls, ages 2 and 4. It was a fantastic experience and we would recommend them as well, without hesitation. The guides were professional and sweet and made extra efforts to talk with our kids and help engage them in the culture and surrounings. Both our guide and driver made the trek with us to the Tiger's Nest to ensure we could hike it with our girls and oftentimes offered to help carry them. We appreciated all the gestures. We normally don't like to travel with tours and guides, but loved our experience with YANA and felt it was one of the highlights of our experience.
