Hi, I am planning on going to Bolivia in June. Does anyone have any helpful tips on going through
the complicated process of getting a Bolivian visa for USA citizens?

The application form is pretty straightforward. Instructions from the Bolivia Embassy are at: http://boliviala.org/us-citizen-visa-requirements/ If you don't feel comfortable applying for the visa on your own, you can use a visa service -they charge a fee, but it is worth peace of mind as they will go over all your documents and make sure all is in order before taking it to the Embassy.
