I was in Botswana, Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), and South Africa in Sept. 2017 (with Gate 1) and the plug that was used in all three countries was the standard UK square-prong plug. I also used the standard UK plug on a prior trip to South Africa in the late 1990's.
I am taking a more detailed and extensive trip to Botswana in Spring 2019 with Road Scholar and the following information was listed in their pre-tour Information Packet:
"NOTE on the South African plug it is VERY large (larger than plugs found in the US or Europe) and is not easily found. The plug used in Botswana is the same as that used in South Africa. If doing the pre-program extension to Victoria Falls, the type of plug used in Zimbabwe is the same as that used in the UK (type G). Visit a travel/sporting store, either in person or online, to purchase the adaptor."
Is that really necessary? My experience with Road Scholar is that sometimes their pre-tour information is woefully out-of-date. For those of you who have been to Botswana recently, can you please verify whether or not I will need the special plug adaptor that Road Scholar refers to or whether the standard UK plug will do just fine, thank you.
What kind of adaptor plug is used in Botswana?

We were in Botswana this past
We were in Botswana this past May. Use the South African adapter. You can order them from Amazon. I think I paid around $10 for three plugs.
Thank you, DorothyB. Sorry
Thank you, DorothyB. Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been ... travelling. I just took your advice and ordered the 3 South African adapter plugs from Amazon for the same price that you paid. While I was at it I also ordered a South Africa 2 USB Travel Charger so that I can recharge my iPod/iPad in Botswana. However, if once I am on the Road Scholar Botswana program and I find that that the game lodges also accept the standard UK plug (which is what I suspect), I will post that to this forum. But it's good to be on the safe side just in case.
