Barcelona In April---3-4 day visit--suggestions on where to stay

<p>My wife and I will be ending up in Barcelona in April after a repositioning cruise and are looking for suggestions to stay. We were in Barcelona a few years back and stayed in a 2-3 star hotel that was fine--close to the metro and not far from the old town neigborhoods but the room itself wasn&#39;t that good. It was at a reasonable cost but maybe there are apartments or another hotel someone might suggest. We are not 4 or 5 star hotel persons but like to be near the metro as we ussually use it for our transportation.</p><p>Any suggestions?</p>

You are smart to spend extra time in Barcelona after your cruise -- it is a fabulous city.     I’ve stayed at two hotels here:NH Calderon Hotel         tel: 011-34-93-301-0000Rambla Cataluna 26            fax: 011-34-93-412-4193http://www.nh-hotels.com/nh/en/hotels/spain/barcelona/nh-calderon.htmlThis is in a great location - close to everything including the Gaudi Houses, the start of Las Ramblas, and just one block over from the Paseo de Gracia.  The huge buffet breakfast was one of the best I had in Spain.   Check  www.trivago.com for prices.   I’ve found that the closer to arrival you book, the better the price. If you want VERY inexpensive and don’t mind basic, and want to stay in the Gothic Quarter, look at Hostal Levante                    Baixada de Sant Miquel 2 08002www.hostallevante.comThis is a case of you have to know what you are buying.   Rooms are basic, and you can choose with or without private bath.     No breakfast is provided.   Taxis have to leave you about a block away as the streets are too narrow in this part of the quarter.  Best to check tripadvisor for more details on this one.   I stayed four nights at each property and think that if you can get a good price (maybe $125 - $150) you would enjoy the NH Calderon after your cruise. (sorry about the formatting, it seems to have gotten lost on the post!)

~fbalsells@bbarcelonaapartments.com We are doing an Oceania cruise, Miami to Barcelona, in April.  Will stay in Barcelona for a week afterwards.  ITN ran a number of articles last year on how to find apartments overseas.  Using that resouce we came up with the link above and booked an apartment.  Since we have not yet completed the trip can't comment on our success but the response and handling was very good.  We look forward to our stay.

Cant be beat. Hote lDante is a Best Western property in the heart of things w a great pice.
