During a trip to southern Switzerland in May ’08, my wife, Paula, and I visited St. Moritz for two nights during the depths of its spring off-season. My wife, Elissa, and I were in Rome Oct. 13-18, 2008, and reinforced our opinion that we had found a wonderful ristorante in a magical setting.

Halfway between the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon is Piazza S. Ignazio. It’s dominated on one side by its eponymous church and on the other side by some architecturally pleasing buildings. Regarding the reader’s letter “Can Guidebooks Be Trusted” (Nov. ’08, pg. 24), I must add that I cannot trust them.

For the last 25 years I have had an apartment in the Marais district of Paris, and I read every article on Paris that I can find. As to which was the world’s first revolving restaurant (Dec. ’08, pg. 63), several readers noted that the Seattle Space Needle opened at the World’s Fair in 1962.

Don Wright of Newberg, Oregon, pointed out that the Ala Moana in Waikiki, Hawaii, opened first, in 1961, though it closed after three or four years and was much smaller than the Space Needle’s SkyCity restaurant, which remains open. The same architect, John Graham, designed both.
